Ex-Ipswich Town defender picks his best-ever XI
King’s Lynn Town defender Chris Smith was a real rock in the heart of the Linnets’ defence last season, despite missing almost three months of the campaign after dislocating his elbow.
Smith, who joined the Linnets last summer, was with Ipswich Town from the age of eight and also captained the Under-23s at Portman Road.
Here, the youngster selects his best XI of players who he has shared a pitch with.
Goalkeeper - Bartosz Bialkowski: The best shotstopper I have seen.
Unsurprisingly, won multiple player of the season awards at Ipswich.
Right back - Rory McAuley: Tough-tackling centre back, good in the air and on the ball too. No doubt he could do a job at right back in this team.
Centre back - Mickey Spillane: I’ve seen him score a few goal of the season contenders with both feet.
Reads the game well and makes it so easy to play alongside.
Centre back - Adam Webster: Played a few reserve games at Ipswich. He dribbled out and pinged pin point diagonals all game.
He controlled the game like a quarter back in american football.
Left back - Matt Clarke: Has bundles of technical ability and used to just run through teams from the back. Another CB that will have to do a job at LB.
Centre midfield - Cole Skuse: Always looks like he has so much time on the ball and is always in the right position at the right time. A dream to have in front of you as a CB.
Centre midfield - Flynn Downes: His running stats are always ridiculous. He wins the ball back countless times and keeps things simple. Big future ahead of him still.
Centre midfield - Teddy Bishop: seen him terrorise defences for years. He’s happy to take a ball in any situation and will dominate any game on his day.
Right wing - Bersant Celina: His feet werenlightning quick, he scored plenty of ‘worldies’ and he could nutmeg a mermaid.
Striker - David McGoldrick: A real all-rounder: can hold the ball up, play defence splitting passes, beat a man one-versus-one and score all types of goals.
Left wing - Adam Marriott: Great movement and can drop deep or run in behind. A natural finisher.
Tommy Smith: New Zealand international. Does everything properly and is Mr Reliable
Ryan Jarvis: One step ahead of everybody else and brilliant technical ability.
Jonny Williams: Played a few reserve games during his loan spells at Ipswich. His nickaname was‘Joniesta’ and that says it all really
Michael Gash: A superb ‘target man’ but does plenty of unnoticed defensive work and has great feet too.
Andre Dozzell: Wand of a left foot and one of the best at disguising a pass I’ve seen. A great footballing brain.
