King’s Lynn Town defeated on their travels but home FA Vase glory for Downham Town and Fakenham Town
There was National League North defeat in Tyneside for King’s Lynn Town this afternoon, but FA Vase glory for Downham Town and Fakenham Town.
Josh Barrett missed a ninth-minute penalty for the Linnets as they lost 2-0 at second-place South Shields, with the goals coming for the home side in the 64th and 89th minutes.
Lynn, who are now third from bottom of the 24-team league after 13 games, entertain second-from-bottom outfit Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday evening and next Saturday, seventh-place Blyth Spartans are the visitors to The Walks.
In the FA Vase First Round this afternoon, Downham beat Essex Senior League strugglers Coggeshall Town 1-0 at home, while Fakenham hosted South Midlands Premier League mid-tablers Cockfosters and beat them 2-0. Both sides now go into Monday’s draw for the Second Round on Saturday, November 11.
The Ghosts took the lead in the 15th minute when Louis Henman-Mason slotted through Jay Myhill who cut it back for Jake Watts to poke home. Seven minutes from the end, Jude Frostick tapped in a Joe Keeley effort to wrap up the victory.
Heacham are in Vase action in London this evening, playing South Midlands Premier League leaders St Panteleimon, and then entertain Dereham Town in the Thurlow Nunn League Cup on Tuesday. Fakenham are at home to Downham in a Thurlow Nunn Premier League game on Tuesday evening.
Swaffham Town’s game at Haverhill Rovers in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North today was postponed.
