King's Lynn Town's match at Altrincham has been postponed due to positive Covid tests in the opposition camp.

The Linnets were due to take on the Robins at the The J.Davidson Stadium tomorrow night but the game will now be rearranged.

Ian Culverhouse's side, who are also without a fixture this Saturday, had numerous fixtures called off last season because of the pandemic but this is the first one so far this campaign.

A statement on the Altrincham website a short while ago said: "Altrincham's next two Vanarama National League fixtures have been postponed after a member of the Robins' first-team squad returned a positive test for Covid-19.

"Alty were due to face King's Lynn Town at The J.Davidson Stadium tomorrow night before heading to the West Country to take on Yeovil Town on Saturday.

"But both games have now been called off on the instructions of the league after it emerged an Alty player has tested positive for Covid.

"With a number of players having to self-isolate for 10 days as a consequence of the positive test, the decision was taken to postpone the King's Lynn and Yeovil games and rearrange them at a later date."

The Linnets released a statement saying: "Please note that tomorrow’s scheduled game against Altrincham has been postponed due to a positive COVID test in the opposition camp.

"We wish the player involved a speedy recovery and will confirm the new date in due course."

League rivals Chesterfield's schedule trip to Woking tomorrow night has also been postponed to a positive Covid test.

Lynn will next be in action when they entertain Wealdstone at The Walks on Saturday, September 25.

The news came on the same day that Lynn confirmed that teenage midfielder Joe Gascoigne had signed professional forms with the club.

Meanwhile, defender Alex Brown has gone in the opposite direction.

The club has terminated the contract of Brown by mutual consent.

Joining the Linnets from Buxton in March 2020 the left-sided player made 17 appearances for the club.
