King’s Lynn complete loan deal for Cambridge United midfielder who netted against Arsenal in FA Youth Cup

King's Lynn Town have completed the signing of Cambridge United midfielder Kai Yearn.

The 18-year-old has agreed a month's loan deal at The Walks - after being recommended to the club by skipper Josh Coulson.

Yearn netted against Premier League giants Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup last season.

Linnets boss Mark Hughes said: "Kai is an exciting talent. He is on his second loan at this level after impressing last season at Chelmsford.

"Our captain Josh Coulson watched Cambridge United's successful FA Youth Cup run last season and said Kai was excellent.

"With the current squad hit by injuries, suspensions and international duty, Kai will go straight into the squad. I'm sure the fans will enjoy watching him play."

Yearn signed his first professional contract with the U's in the summer of 2022.

The youngster made five first-team appearances for the Abbey Stadium outfit during the 2021/22 campaign and became the youngest-ever player to score for the club, after netting in his senior debut against Oxford United in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Last season, Yearn spent time on loan with Chelmsford City in the National League South.

The teenager impressed in Cambridge’s run to the FA Youth Cup Quarter-Finals, where they were eliminated by Premier League Arsenal in injury time after he put the U’s ahead during a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at the Emirates.

The arrival of Yearn offers Lynn's injury-ravaged squad some respite ahead of tomorrow's home clash against Southport at The Walks.
