King’s Lynn Town have completed the signing of striker Jordan Ponticelli from Wrexham.

Ponticelli was one of eight players released by Reds boss Phil Parkinson after the Reds missed out on promotion last term.

Having started his career at Coventry City, Ponticelli joined Wrexham on loan in the second half of the coronavirus-affected 2019-20 season and made the move permanent in the summer.

After two full seasons in North Wales, the 23-year-old is expected to be a great addition to the Linnets' squad, subject to international clearance being granted.

Speaking about the new addition Tommy Widdrington told the club's website: “Firstly, I have to say, if you’d told me two months ago we’d get the opportunity sign Jordan I’d have found that hard to believe.

“We have beaten off numerous National League clubs. The work that has gone on behind the scenes in recruitment has been excellent, so when the opportunity arose to approach Jordan I jumped at it.

“He had found himself down a very impressive pecking order at Wrexham, which doesn’t alter the fact he has all the attributes to be a top goal scorer when he’s actually on the pitch.

"His career has been above National North which again highlights the quality. I’ve no doubt he will add to our front line.

“I’m also sure all connected with King's Lynn Town Football Club will join me and the staff in welcoming Jordan to The Walks."

Ponticelli originally arrived on loan from Coventry City in the second half of the 2019-20 season.

He scored two goals in five appearances for the relegation-threatened Reds before the campaign ended abruptly because of the coronavirus pandemic.

After making the move permanent in the summer, hamstring injuries plagued Ponticelli during 2020-21 when he scored four goals in the run-in as Wrexham missed out on the play-offs on the final day.

Ponticelli found his chance with thee National League big spenders limited following the high-profile takeover by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and becomes Lynn's second new signing of the close season.
