King's Lynn beaten at National League North strugglers Farsley Celtic

Farsley Celtic 2 King's Lynn Town 0

King's Lynn Town suffered their third league defeat of the season at strugglers Farsley Celtic tonight – and dropped out the top three of the National League North standings as a result.

First half goals from Frank Mulhern and Carlton Ubaezuonu handed the Celts a 2-0 lead at the break and that's the way it remained until the final whistle.

With Darlington winning 2-0 at Curzon Ashton and Scarborough beating Peterborough Sports 2-1, Lynn slip to fourth in the table although they still have three games in hand on the three sides above them.

The Linnets were still without the injured trio of Theo Widdrington, Ben Stephens and Jordan Ponticelli for their trip to west Yorkshire.

Lynn made one change from the side that started the 2-1 victory over Hereford on Saturday as defender Adam Crowther returned to the starting line-up in place of Kyle Callan-McFadden.

Farsley took the lead on the quarter-hour mark as Mulhern nipped in behind the Lynn defence before chipping the onrushing Paul Jones.

The home side doubled their lead 11 minutes before the break after Jimmy Spencer's ball into Mulhern on the edge of the box eventually found its way through to Ubaezuonu, who picked out the bottom corner.

Max Dearnley pulled off fine saves to deny Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain and Josh Barrett before the interval.

The closest Lynn came to finding a reply in the second half was when midfielder Cameron Hargreaves saw his goalbound shot brilliantly blocked by Andy Butler.

Lynn will look to bounce straight back when they welcome Bradford Park Avenue to The Walks on Saturday.
