King's Lynn victory heaps the pressure on National League North leaders AFC Fylde

Leamington 0 King's Lynn Town 3

King's Lynn Town moved to within a point of AFC Fylde at the top of the National League North standings with an excellent 3-0 victory at Leamington this afternoon.

Aaron Cosgrave opened the scoring and doubled Lynn's advantage before Zain Walker added a third to inflict the heaviest home defeat on the Brakes this season.

The win leaves the Linnets a point behind AFC Fylde, with a game in hand, after the leaders were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chester.

Lynn registered the opening goal on six minutes when Cosgrave's header somehow bounced up and squeezed past Hawkins by his right hand upright.

The hosts were hit by the sucker punch of a second goal in the 69th minute as Cosgrove unleashed a truly stunning volley past Hawkins for his second goal of the afternoon - and his third in two games.

Lynn wrapped up the points with five minutes to go through substitute Walker, who stepped inside both Meredith and Streete before curling a shot beyond an unsighted Hawkins.

The Linnets will have a chance to return to the top of the table when they host Bradford PA at The Walks on Tuesday night.
