King's Lynn co-promoter has positive experience with coronavirus vaccine jab
King’s Lynn Stars speedway co-promoter Dale Allitt had a positive experience when getting his first coronavirus vaccine jab.
The former Lynn team manager also confirmed current team boss Peter Schroeck has recovered from the virus.
Allitt. who lives on the outskirts of Boston, has been in the greater health risk category since a brain virus two years ago and was required to undergo shielding during the initial months of the pandemic.
The Lincolnshire-based long-serving Minors and Brady Stars official said: “I had it a couple of weeks ago and it was all fine.
“It’s a dedicated vaccine centre at the Princess Royal Sports Arena (in nearby Wyberton).
“It was very, very well organised. I booked online and it was all done and dusted in 15 minutes, perhaps.
“Ironically I was told to book it, and I did. The day I was told to, I got a letter you get about shielding.
“I did it online because I was told to, I got a text message or email that said I’m eligible. I didn’t question it; I just did it. My second dose is on the 11th of May.”
Allitt did not want to preach to anyone on being vaccinated but stated: “To be honest, I’m not a doctor.
“At the end of the day if it helps to get back to normality that we all need, it’s the best way forward, isn’t it.
“It’s all different opinions about it and I don’t want to force it on anyone.
“I’m not a doctor so I’m not going to get into all that but if it helps to protect you and to protect the people around you, then go for it.
“People are entitled to their own opinions; it’s down to everyone else. The bottom line is, it’s a choice.
“You would have had all these people around the world invested in these vaccines who are very clever people.
“It’s not in their interests to make everyone ill so that they need to keep taking the vaccine at least once every year. It’s in their interests for you to be healthy.”
Allitt added on recovering team boss Schroeck: “Peter is fine. He’s back at work and all is good. Everyone is looking forward to doing some speedway in May.”
