Sally Bettinson’s match was crucial making difference between a win for Lynn or halved match

On a perfect spring day, Lynn Golf Club ladies were matched at home against Royal West Norfolk Golf Club in the first round of the Annodata Matchplay event.

The golf was excellent with matches being fiercely fought.

Mary Wilson, first out, came back from four down to halve her match, Karen Freezer won her match 5 and 3, and Julie Proctor won her match 3 and 2.

Chris Bell lost her match 3 and 2 which saw the score 2.5 to 1.5 in Lynn’s favour with one match to come in.

Sally Bettinson’s match was all square after 15 holes with three holes to go.

The result of Bettinson’s match was crucial as it would either mean a win for Lynn or a halved match.

Bettinson called on all her resources and won the 16th and 17th holes to win by 2 and 1 to make sure that Lynn won 3.5 to 1.5 overall.
