King's Lynn golfer boosts his quest for a top-five finish in Order of Merit
A Lynn golfer boosted his quest for a top-five finish in the order of merit by clinching victory on the PGA EuroPro Tour.
Jack Yule stormed to a three-shot success in the ORIDA Championship at Park Wood Golf Club after a final round four under 68 sealed a stunning victory for the King’s Lynn Golf Club member.
“I felt pretty good all week,” admitted a victorious Yule.
“The greens were nice and soft at the start of the event and the greens really suited me.
“I held a lot more putts and it was one of those tournaments where everything came together for me.”
The 26-year-old led from the outset, having carded an opening round 64 to take a share of the lead into the second day.
Yule confirmed his dominance on day two to take a two-shot advantage heading into the final round in Westerham, Kent.
Going into the third day, Yule was quick out the blocks going four under through three after a birdie on 1 and 3 and an eagle on 2, eventually going out in 31 (-5).
A slight wobble on the back nine didn’t deter Yule who held a four-shot advantage at one point during his final round.
The victory left Yule sitting in fourth spot in the Order of Merit standings going into this week’s PDC Championship at East Sussex National having only missed two cuts at the opening seven events so far in 2021.
“I’m pleased with my progress but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself,” said Yule.
“Golf is one of those sports where you know that you are not going to dominate all of the time and the draw and the condition of a course can make a massive difference.
“It’s a step closer to that Challenge Tour spot as it’s looking unlikely that I’ll get a place on the European Tour School unless I get an invite.”
Yule thanks King’s Lynn Golf Club and its members for their continued support, along with sponsors the Fairway Group, Qualitops Pizza Company and Listers King’s Lynn BMW.
