King's Lynn Town Ladies' FA Cup campaign ended this afternoon as their higher ranked opponents proved too strong at The Walks.

A missed chance shortly before half-time proved costly for the hosts as the Us struck three times in the second half to book a place in the first round proper.

Lynn, currently fifth in the Eastern Region Premier Division, were always the underdogs against the side which occupies the same spot in the FAWNL South East Division One – one level higher in the pyramid.

And home keeper Christina Vivas was called on to make a point blank save inside the first three minutes as the visitors began strongly.

A couple of long range efforts were the best Lynn had to show for their efforts until four minutes before the interval, when Rachel Skinner pounced on hesitancy in the visitors' defence to play in Amy Magnus, who fired over the bar.

Moments later, there were home shouts for a penalty when Magnus went down under pressure from a Cambridge defender, only for a corner to be signalled by referee Andrew Wilson.

And Lynn would be left to rue those moments just seconds after the restart, as Amy Howlett nudged the Us in front from almost on the goal line, after Vivas had parried Ruth Fox's initial shot.

Magnus was crowded out from a Skinner free kick as Lynn pushed for a leveller, while home captain Tiffany Forshaw fired a long-range effort onto the roof of the net.

But the visitors doubled their lead in the 63rd minute, when Alysha Stojko-Down got on the end of Laura Mitchell's free kick.
