King’s Lynn parkrun is blessed with good weather for Saturday morning race in The Walks

With the bad weather across the country, the Lynn parkrun was blessed with a beautiful, albeit a bit chilly, morning in The Walks.

Despite the windy weather on Friday and thanks to the work of the brilliant parks staff, was completely free of any tree debris.

A total of 370 runners took part supported by 28 brilliant volunteers who, once again, did an excellent job.

It was good to see 12 new runners out for their first event, together with 14 first-time visitors from similar events across the country.

The first runner to finish was first-time visitor Jack Scallan, who completed the 5k in 17:47.

A big well done also went to (JW 15-17) Freya Brusch, the first female to finish on her milestone 50th parkrun in a personal best time of 20:19.

A special mention goes to second-place female (JW11-14) Liberty Sibthorpe, who finished in an equally impressive 20:58.

Congratulations went to Kerry Taylor on her 150th parkrun, Phil Rowland on his 200th Lynn parkrun, run director Fabia Pollard, on her 300th run on what was her 60th birthday and to Ian Wiggins on his 350th run.

A special mention also went to Cathy Gibbs, from Littleport, who was completing her celebratory 70th birthday run which she did in a great time of 32:17.

It was also her virtual 5k run for Earth Runs, who provided a flower-seeded medal and planted five trees for all who took part.

Runners who have left taking the parkrun finish place token home, are reminded to return them.

The finish place tokens, which are handed out at the end of the run for scanning, should then be left with the volunteer barcode scanners, ready for sorting for use the following week.

However, runners sometimes depart with them, which then require replacement from a limited stock of spares.
