King's Lynn Stars boss says his side 'gave everything' during Belle Vue defeat

King's Lynn team boss Alex Brady admitted his team “gave it everything” in a battling away defeat at Belle Vue.

The Minors & Brady Stars went down 48-42 at the National Speedway Stadium after a cracking meeting in Manchester which saw them claim a consolation league point.

Once again Richard Lawson was outstanding with paid 13 while Lewis Kerr delivered another solid display with paid 10.

In what looked like a hopeless situation Erik Riss and Richard Lawson teamed up for a brilliant 5-1 in Heat 12 to give Brady’s boys hopes of the point at 39-33.

But then the Aces hit back with a 4-2 of their own to go eight-points up with a brilliant ride from Dan Bewley to open up an eight-point advantage for the home side.

Skipper Lewi Kerr then jumped out of the start to win Heat 14 and with Kasper Andersen third Star were back within six.

Lawson pulled off a stunning win in Heat 15 ahead of Bewley and Brady Kurtz to add a point to Lynn’s league total.

Brady was encouraged with the commitment before high-flying Wolves arrive at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday.

He said: “We could never quite get it back close enough but we came away with a point which I’m over the moon about. The game plan at the start the point was a minimum from this meeting, so at least we’ve hit that target tonight.

“A couple of the boys struggled with the set-up a little bit. But by the end of the night it was improving. We are back here in three weeks so hopefully the track will be similar and we can run them even closer.

“We kept them honest all the way through and the boys gave it everything. We were in the mix in every single race and they had to work hard.

“It seems to have been a classic phrase of mine all season, on another night we could have come away with a little bit more.

“I’m happy with the commitment from all the boys. Thomas Jorgensen struggled to get dialled in but we were fairly solid.

“We just needed a bit more backing for Richard Lawson who worked very hard. Lewis Kerr was also very good. Overall everyone chipped in and did their bit.

“On Thursday night against Wolves we can salvage some pride. It’s a very different team from last time they were at the Adrian Flux Arena.

“The target is a win, it will be very tough no doubt. The pressure is off in one way and the boys can enjoy it but equally the pressure is on for team places in 2022.”
