King's Lynn Speedway hold two minute's silence in remembrance of The Queen
The Adrian Flux Arena fell silent ahead of tapes-up between the King's Lynn Stars and Sheffield Tigers on Thursday in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who died at the age of 96 earlier today.
It was announced by Buckingham Palace at 6.30pm that The Queen had died at Balmoral in Scotland. She passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon.
An hour after the sombre news, fans, riders and management from both sides along with everyone in attendance paid their respects to Her Majesty The Queen.
There was no mid-meeting interval and the post-match press conference after the meeting was also cancelled.
On the track, Lynn Stars' slim play-off hopes are over after a 39-51 defeat by Sheffield in the Premiership.
Sheffield were slightly too strong all-round despite Richard Lawson's dozen-point haul.
Lynn welcomed back Thomas Jorgensen from illness and Jack Thomas into the Rising Star berth after a brief No.8 run-out versus Peterborough last week.
The Minors & Brady Stars were without recent signing Frederik Jakobsen who crashed in Sweden on Tuesday. Lynn tracked Berwick racer Jonas Knudsen as a guest.
The Tigers had in their one-to-seven former Lynn riders Lewis Kerr and Connor Mountain. They operated rider replacement for Kyle Howarth who crashed at Belle Vue on Monday.
Jorgensen made an immediate impact by backing up fellow Dane Nicolai Klindt in the opening race maximum 5-1 victory.
The visitors hit back with a 5-1 from reserves Justin Sedgmen and Mountain.
Sedgmen came in as the first away rider replacement and headed Adam Ellis in a successive Tigers maximum to take the lead.
Heat 4 was shared thanks to Star Lawson's victory, but Tobiasz Musielak's win and third for Kerr edged Sheffield further ahead, 12-18.
Klindt and Jorgensen recorded their second 5-1, but r/r Kerr replied with a win during a 2-4.
Sheffield repeated this result in Heat 8, Kerr again winning on his familiar track to lead 21-27 at halfway.
Stars team boss Alex Brady brought in No.1 Klindt as a one-off tactical sub but Jack Holder held him off while Sedgmen picked up an unlikely first spot in Sheffield's third 5-1.
Klindt won Heat 10 to reduce the arrears to 26-34.
Then came two Tigers heat advantages with triumphs for Musielak and Ellis respectively to take a grip, 30-42.
Lawson won a thrilling 4-2 Heat 13, as the previous few races had featured thrills and luckily no spills, with the Tigers' two points confirming the overall victory.
Richie Worrall led the penultimate race and was fortunate not to fall on lap three which allowed Holder to pass him in a 2-4.
Heat 15's line-up was Jorgensen, Lawson, Kerr and Musielak. After an unsatisfactory start and a warning to Jorgensen, the night ended with top-scorer Musielak completing a hat-trick of wins followed by Lawson and Jorgensen.
King’s Lynn Stars: Nicolai Klindt 11, Thomas Jorgensen 8+3, Josh Pickering (capt) 3, Richie Worrall 2, Richard Lawson 12, Jonas Knudsen (guest) 3, Jack Thomas 0.
Sheffield Tigers: Tobiasz Musielak 12, Lewis Kerr 8, Adam Ellis 8+1, Kyle Howarth R/R, Jack Holder 8+1, Justin Sedgmen 10, Connor Mountain 5+2.

After Monday’s Premiership Pairs at Belle Vue, is the return at Sheffield next Thursday.
