West Norfolk Rugby Club's minis section back in action after Covid
After months away from training and matches, Gatehouse Lane was filled with excitement as the minis section of the West Norfolk Rugby Club hosted teams from Stamford and Peterborough.
Extra precautions were in place to ensure the safety of the players, coaches and parents with balls being sanitised as they left play and social distancing restrictions observed.
This was not a morning when winning was important but the act of playing with and against others within the spirit of rugby’s goals of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
The minis section were not alone in their experience of challenging opposition teams after a long break, as sides from the youth section of the club travelled to Sleaford to encounter players with as much eagerness to engage, tackle and contest each breakdown within the new guidelines set by the RFU.
All the players in the mini and the youth sections of West Norfolk were enthusiastic and most importantly had fun entwined with a feeling of relief to be back on the pitches at last.
West Norfolk Under-13s refused to let the long lay-off for covid restrictions hinder them and came out fighting against Swaffham, writes Laura Salter.

West Norfolk continued to show outstanding team work, with some exceptional communication skills to back it up after the break.
