Three King’s Lynn Roller Hockey Club team members made their debuts in the U11s league away tournament at Sudbury: William Dickerson, Imogen Senter and Aaron Grant.
Their first game was against Herne Bay which was lost 10-2. KLRHC fought hard and Miles Hovell and Ryan Hulcoop scored, as the more experienced players. Leena Futter worked hard in goal, but Herne Bay were very strong.
Letchworth was lost 1-4, but this was a friendly match. The team started to gel together a little with Grant and Senter playing excellent team work in defence. Hovell scored the only goal.
Another friendly was played against the Ely B team, but this was lost as well 2-5. After giving Lynn an easy start in the match, Ely found their rhythm. The more experienced KLRHC players were given a rest and the younger ones were taking on Ely with Senter and Dickerson playing both as attacker and defending when needed. Grant scored his debut goal and Hovell scored the other.
The last game of the day was against Peterborough, who played with one less player as their goalie was taken ill. Lynn lost again 6-7, but it was close to a tie. The whole team played hard and fought until the last second.
It was a very fast game, but Dickerson was superb in midfield playing both defences excellently and assisting with attacks in his debut tournament for U11s. Hovell and Hulcoop scored three goals each.
Though the team lost all their games on the day, they never gave up. The U11s have many new players this year and they are all still finding their places within the team. Lynn would like to thank MKM for their continued support.
