Alfie wins, Kaylin is most improved at Clenchwarton

Have your say

Badminton coach Janis Baker, who runs the Clenchwarton Primary School after-school club, has run a tournament over the last eight weeks with 16 children taking part.

They were split into two groups with the winner and runner-up from each group going through to the semi-finals.

Narrowly missing out on reaching the semis were Grace Ryan and Maddie Ryan both coming third in their respective groups.

In the first semi-final, Jacob Chalke beat Jack Lewis by 15-7 and in the second semi Alfie Bargewell beat Kaylin Dowse by 15-7.

A third/fourth place play-off match was run, with Kaylin winning the third place medal, defeating Jack in a close match by 15-10

In the final Alfie started well, racing to a 9-2 lead, but with some great defensive work from Jacob he managed to reduce Alfie’s lead, but not enough to get back in the game, and Alfie finally ran out as the winner, defeating Jacob 15-8.

Over the school term Baker awards a trophy to the pupil who has most improved over the season, as well as good attendance, attitude towards learning and behaviour, and the award went to Year 6 pupil Kaylin Dowse.
