Snettisham’s Phil Wright qualified in third position for both races of the 750 Motor Club’s K-Tec Racing Clio 182 championship at the beautiful coastal circuit of Anglesey.
During testing on Friday, Wright made great improvements in his lap times and was feeling confident for a good qualifying position.
Rain on the Saturday morning qualifying session made the track greasy but despite this Wright posted a time of 1.21.30 around Anglesey Circuit’s Coastal Configuration. This was just 0.55 of a second behind pole sitter Patrick Fletcher.
Wright got away well into an action packed race one on Saturday afternoon but Mark Balmer in the no 53 car outbraked Phil into the first corner and dropped him into fourth position, Wright kept the pressure on the no. 53 car for the next eight laps however a red flag on lap nine meant Phil ran out of time to try and retake the position.
The sun broke through the clouds for race two on Sunday afternoon, Wright started well again but despite his best efforts he dropped back into 6th place by the end of the second lap due to unpredictable tyre pressure fluxuations. Phil regained his momentum and pushed back through the pack and secured fifth place by the end of the race.
Phil still stands third place in the championship
