Kathryn Baker (16) from Lynn represented England as a goalkeeper in the 2014 Ladies Roller Hockey World Championships in Tourcing, France.

She travelled with the team to compete in her first-ever World Championships.

The first match was against South Africa and England made a fantastic start with a 5-1 win. Next opponents were Chile, one of the strongest teams in the competition.

England trailed 8-0 at half-time, while the second half was better, conceding four more goals.

The last group game was a 1-0 loss against Columbia. Kathryn made several saves, including a penalty, until an own goal deflected in.

England Ladies were third in their group, and next up were Switzerland. The team created a lot more attacks but lost 4-0.

A well deserved 9-1 win over USA earned a play-off for ninth and 10th place against Spain, one of the potential favourites. They proved to be just too strong for England, who lost 10-0.

Kathryn plays at King’s Lynn Roller Hockey Club. She would like to thank her sponsor Samueljacks T-Shirt shop on Lynn Road, Gaywood, for her England clothing.
