Heacham Manor staged their fifth Seniors Golf Open.
With excellent course conditions and the weather holding out, good scores were expected by the golfers who were competing in a fourball better ball format for the trophy on July 13.
As in the previous year’s format superb prizes for first and second were available for both the home team and visiting teams with the best score on the day taking the trophy irrespective of the home club.
A competitive field with teams from across East Anglia competed. Good scores were evident with the top eight teams all scoring above 40 stableford points.
From the visiting teams the runners-up with 41 points were Stan Lee and John Youngs from Ely City Golf Club. The winning visiting team were David Smith from Elton Furze and James Dougal from Oundle scoring 42 points.
Of the home club teams Ron Kent and Graham Reeves shot a solid 44 to come in second to John Boon and Trevor Howard who also won the overall Seniors Open Trophy with an impressive 47 points.
A further £155 was collected from a raffle on the day with all proceeds to the captain’s charity of the Dementia Care Ward at the Lynn Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Seniors captain Graham Gerrish stated: “I congratulate everyone who contributed to the Men’s Seniors Open for a truly memorable and rewarding day.”
