North Runcton beat Great Witchingham by seven wickets

Great Witchingham 97-10 off 26.3 overs. Runcton 100-3 off 18.1 overs.

North Runcton bowled Great Witchingham out for a below-par score of 97 on Saturday.

This was largely down to the bowling of North Runcton’s fast bowler Ben Coote who took career best figures of 9-35 off 10.3 overs.

This was a deadly spell of bowling which saw Coote bowl five batsmen and get the other four caught behind.

Great Witchingham had no answer to this superb spell of bowling. M. Seago showed the only resistance, scoring 34, and was later dismissed by H. Lankfer.

North Runcton’s reply was comprehensive, scoring the required runs in 18 overs with the loss of three wickets. M. Skipper carried on his good form, scoring a good 31, and N. Freeman also batted well, scoring a free flowing run-a-ball 30.

In the Premier Division, Stow enjoyed a 20-point victory to boost their chances of avoiding the drop.

The second from bottom side reached 121-3 to win by seven wickets at Diss who were dismissed for a modest target of 120. Fakenham lead the Premier after drawing with Downham (see Tuesday’s paper).
