LYNN CYCLING CLUB
On a warm and breezy Wednesday evening, 29 riders turned up for the club’s Tottenhill 10-mile time trial circuit.
Many visiting guest riders from various clubs gave the TT a much more competitive edge and good times were achieved by all participating.
Visitor Gary Empson from Anglia Velo finished strongly in a time of 20.37 and was the fastest rider of the night.
Other guest riders’ results: J. Kierman (St Ives CC) 21.09, F. Pett (Team V02 Bikes) 22.20, D. Procter (Team VO2 Bikes) 22.45, N. Empson (Anglia Velo) 23.34, M. Higby (Team VO2 Bikes) 23.52, D. Webster (Performance Coaching Me) 25.14, M. Fletcher 35.04 (on an MTB).
First KLCC rider home was Nathan Corridon finishing strongly in 21.09.
He was followed by: Steve Neill in 22.24, Matthew Senter 22.32, James Senter 23.54, Marcus Hopkins 24.02, Simon Hardy 24.42, Phil Seaman 24.59 (pb), Simon Light 25.05, C Levy 25.10, Justine Gyton 25.36, Ben Smith 26.02, Simon Howling 26.32, Neil Holland 27.16, Andy Sennett 27.20 (MTB), Kay Burgess 27.24, Emma Thompson 27.52, Lewis Fulljames 28.53, Peter Barber 29.37 (pb), Jo Brooks 31.36, Maria Frary 31.37, and Pauline Sparrow 34.42.
Matthew Senter competed in the VTTA North Midlands 25-mile TT road race on the A25 on Saturday.
He finished in a time of 55.27 against 105 riders competing. He finished in the top 12 and was pleased with that as it was very windy and an unfamiliar course made it a difficult ride for him.
Plans are being prepared for the club’s road race on Sunday, October 18. Entries are open via British Cycling’s website and information is on the club website (see below).
The 50-mile race will start from the village of Grimston. Some 60-plus riders are expected to compete and with the current Tour De France going on, more people are aware of cycle racing.
The race has already gained sponsorship from SealSkinz Lynn, Walkers Skoda Cars Marriott Motor Group of Lynn, Richardsons Cycles of Lynn, West Norfolk Insurance Services and The Insurance Office, and West Norfolk Council.
If any other local businesses or individuals would like to sponsor this event, please email phillip@kingslynncyc lingclub.co.uk
More information to follow in the coming weeks.
Training and Social Rides
Throughout Thursday summer evenings at 6.15pm starting from The Sandboy Public House car park, Bawsey, KLCC organise, support and provide training rides for all abilities in speed determined groups set at the pace of the slowest rider.
Many riders turn up each week and do a route of about 22 miles or further depending on numbers, etc, and weather. All that is needed is a bike, helmet, spare inner tube, a pump and working lights.
