The new Norfolk Cricket League season began with lots of excitement as this year sees the league fully regionalised and covering the whole county, replacing the West Norfolk Cricket League.
The rain over the preceding week and on Saturday did its best to dampen spirits, but only 12 games across the 10 divisions were affected.
In Division One, Denver beat Kirkley and Belton with Paul Morton making 54 and Chris Rolfe taking four wickets, Chris Lambert made 68 for Kirkley. Sandringham’s Ben Metton made 54 in their victory over Cringleford Lodge. Snettisham beat newly promoted Saxlingham, with Matt Herbert making 50.
In 2West, Castle Rising had a comfortable win over North Elmham, Peter Barnes took 7-27 for Garboldisham B as they beat Gooderstone, and Northwold overcame Castle Acre.
Sandringham A had a good win against Dersingham A with Cameron Bear taking 5-21 for Sandringham in 3West. Holt overcame Saham Toney A as Liam Channel took 5-32 and Daniel Burridge 4-37 respectively to restrict Saham Toney.
Narborough had a comfortable win against Bircham A.
In 4NorthWest, Dickie Sayers made 66 and Kev Williamson 78 and Billy Brotherton took 4-26 as Thornham defeated Gooderstone B.
James Dorley with 106 and Tony Exley with 80* helped Swaffham B to 262 before Harry Exley’s 4-19 ripped out the heart of Denver B’s response.
An innings of 53 for Jacob Seed helped Swanton Morley A beat hosts Beeston A in 4SouthWest.
