West Norfolk Junior Badminton player, Jessi Bateman won the Badminton England under 14 Kent Open tournament in Gillingham at the weekend.
Competitors came from across the country, including Surrey, Hertfordshire, Yorkshire, Essex and Warwickshire.
Jessi, 13, from Dersingham, won all her games in her initial group in two straight games to reach the knock out stages.
In the quarter finals she played against her Norfolk doubles partner, Caitlin Parfitt, winning 15-13, 15-11.
Her semi-final match was much closer, but despite dropping the middle game, Jessi won through, defeating Caitlyn Harper from Warwickshire 15-10, 11-15, 15-12.
She faced Milly Evans, again from Warwickshire, in the final. After winning the first game 15-10, she then dropped the next 12-15. The decider was even closer, with both girls taking the lead at some point. At 15-all, the final was decided on setting, and Jessi held her nerve to win the title 17-15.
