The second round of the Driftcup returns to Lynn’s Arena Flux Arena tomorrow (Saturday, May 14).

The series caters for the star car drivers of tomorrow, and the top four drivers will be given the chance to compete at the next round of the British Drift Championship at Driftland in June.

Local driver and former British Drift champion Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith will head the judging panel alongside Ryan Pothecary and Dan Firmager.

The track design will make the most of the venue and more than 50 drivers will battle it out to be part of the main event. Drivers will practice and then be judged to qualify. They will be aiming to finish in the top 32 to be eligible for the finals.

The event takes place all day, with practice and qualifying.

The main event will start at 6.30pm with the top 32. There will be a drivers’ parade and introductions for the top 16 at 7.30pm.

The mixture of cars taking part is amazing. There will be everything from a 1980’s Toyota Corolla KE70 and a rear wheel driver Escort Cosworth, plus massive selection of BMW’s.

Mark Webb was victorious at round one, and he will be looking to do the double. The Super Drift driver is on a high having just returned from a medal winning performance at FISE in France.
