The end of the year saw Heros Amateur Boxing Club complete a fantastic season with five of their boxers entering the National Championships.
This competition sees the best fighters take part from each county and their regions.
Mel Payne and Richard Girdlestone, Heros Fitness boxing coaches, were immensely proud of all the boxers’ achievements, saying the standard this year has been amazing.
Joe Manning competed in the Junior ABAs, winning four contests on his way to the finals, losing to Billy King from Hoddesdon ABC in a very controversial decision.
Stevi-Ann Levy reached the finals of the Haringay Cup which is an international tournament, and also the semi-finals of the Ladies ABA.
Brandon Wilmore reached the national youth quarter-finals, winning all his bouts inside the distance before losing to Ellis Delaney (West Ham ABC). Delaney went on to win the national title, the Four Nations and the silver in the World Games.
Edvardus Kantanavicius reached the Junior ABA national finals, winning four contests and losing by a very close split decision.
Super heavyweight Ben Roberts boxed in the Senior Elite Championships at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, reaching the national quarter-finals. The eventual winner was Joe Joyce who also won the Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Heros ABC is run from Heros Fitness on North Lynn Industrial Estate, and welcomes new members from age five to adult.
