Stock Car World fever comes to the Adrian Flux Arena at King’s Lynn tomorrow (Sat 13, 5pm) when the World Semi-Final for the F2 Stock Cars together with the World Final for the 1300cc Stock Cars is contested.
For the first time in the sport’s 50-year history, the world series for F2 Stock Cars takes place exclusively on shale with the semis taking place on the shale at Lynn this weekend before the final itself takes place at Mildenhall next month.
This has seen the region’s shale shifters move into top gear to try and qualify for a semi-final in what will surely be the best chance for local drivers to qualify for the World Final.
The 1300 Stock Cars are also in action in their World Final – the second time this event has taken place at Lynn. Will Morphy (Surrey) is the defending champion.
Local hopes lie with Chris Brown and Wes Freestone (both Lynn) with Brown set to start the main race on the eighth row and Freestone on the 10th row. Wes will no doubt have hoped to have qualified further towards the front of the grid for the main race and will need all of his experience to come through and win what looks like being a very competitive and action-packed event.
Still hoping to get onto the grid through the last chance race will be Austen Freestone and Stephen Walden (both Lynn).
