King’s Lynn Cycling Club member Simon Hardy entered his first triathlon on Sunday, hosted by King’s Lynn Triathlon Club, and had approximately 20 competitors.

The swim was a 1km lap in the Pentney ski lake, followed by a 20 mile bike ride through Narborough, Marham, Fincham, and then back to Pentney.

This was followed by a 6km run (2 x 3km loop) of mixed trails around Pentney Lakes. His overall time was 1:52:50.

He said: “I was apprehensive about the swim, having never had an open water swim that far before, but coming out the water ‘last’ I was looking forward to bike ride, my favoured discipline.

“The ride was great, with very little wind and a lot of determination, I arrived back at Pentney for the run. This was and off-road run on tracks and trails around the lakes and I was pleased to have finish my first, but by no means last, triathlon. Thanks to all the Tri club members for your support and encouragement.”
