Heacham Captains’ Day benefits King’s Lynn hospital

Heacham Manor Annual Captains’ Day welcomed in the captains and raised money for the Lynn Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

After being postponed due to torrential rain and wind, 36 golfers competed at Hunstanton.

The main format was a combined team event with the best three scores out of four on each hole counting. An individual stableford competition was also held in conjunction.

Nine teams competed with Aaron Daly (men’s captain) and Rachel Hodgkinson (ladies’ captain) off first with solid drives.

In the team competition the captains with their team mates Martin Heath and John Elsden took victory with an impressive 124 score. The runners-up on 121 were Craig Drewery, Warren Bates, Jamie Brown and Allan Frazer.

The individual tournament was won by Paul McAllister with a superb 43 stableford points, Craig Drewery runner-up on 37. Hodgkinson took the win in the ladies with 36, beating junior Ella Mason on 34.

A raffle along with golfing fines, purchased mulligans and entry fees, helped raise nearly £570. The charity auction, including a meal for two in the Crown, East Rudham, helped raise a further £1,095. The total amount raised was £1,665.
