Silver level events are for high ranked players, so Joe and his Norwich partner James Salter faced strong opposition in an Under 17 tournament in Nottingham.

Rolfe, 15, who is personally sponsored by Top Spin Tennis, also entered the singles event. He won his group, including defeating a Surrey player ranked above him. Unfortunately Joe could not progress beyond the first knock out round, losing to a Leicestershire player.

Some 25 pairs were entered in the doubles, with Joe and James comfortably winning all group games, including defeating the number 3 seeds. In the quarter-finals they beat a pair from Staffordshire 17-15, 15-9 to reach the semi-finals.

There they met the number one seeds, and despite pushing them in the first game to 14-16, they were unable to continue the momentum in the second end, losing 11-15.

But their semi appearance earned them the bronze medals.

Bateman’s (13) success in national tournaments continues, winning gold in the doubles at the U15 Bronze level Suffolk tournament. Playing with Norwich’s Caitlin Parfitt they won all matches in their group then won the final by 21-13.

Jessi also won a bronze in the singles, after winning all four group matches, and losing a close semi 21-17 against the top seed.
