The penultimate event in the Ryston Runners AC Cross Country Grand Prix Series took place at Shouldham Warren on Sunday.
For the Seniors the course was 9km over quite a challenging route featuring a double stiff climb, but despite the windy conditions several runners reported personal best times, and Pete Johnson even broke the club age group record for the race.
Johnson was one of nine category winners for the home club. His victory in the M60 saw him cross the finishing line five minutes clear of the second placed runner. The in-form Nic Bensley was almost as far ahead of the field in the M45 category, which he won in a new PB time. Malcolm Tuff had just a minute to spare in winning the M50.
Lorena Latisaite recorded a PB and a win in the Senior Women’s race, with Mel Reed in third. Susan Matthews, Pauline Drewery and Maureen Wolfe won the W35, W45 and W55 races respectively, while a PB saw Karen Wood home as third placed W50. Annie Rooks was the sole club winner in the junior races, taking the U17 G category, while Rosie Booth was second U13G.
