West Norfolk Junior Badminton players took the top places in last weekend’s March Madness tournament held in Norwich.
The fun under 14 competition has become a recent fixture on the Norfolk Junior Badminton calendar, with many West juniors competing with players from all over the county.
Entrants are initially put in groups, with winners and runners-up going into the top section, called Lions, the next two placings in each group into the Tigers section, and those in fifth place into the Snakes group.
The competitors would eventually be placed in a finishing order from 1 to 39.
Harry Wakefield from Feltwell and Leo Fonzo from Downham both won their groups. Alfie Brown joined them after coming runner-up in his group.
Cole Fowler and Jamie Streets, both from the Downham junior club, were third and fourth respectively in their group.
Harry and Leo won their next three matches to finish in the top group of four, with Harry defeating Leo in the final by 21-10 to finish numbers 1 and 2 respectively.
Alfie was unlucky to lose his second match 19-21, but then won the next two, so he finished just off the top spots, in fifth overall.
Jamie and Cole both won their first games in the Tigers section, lost the next, but both won their third to face each other for positions 21 and 22, with Cole defeating Jamie 21-13.
The organisers and parents voted for various prizes during the day, and Leo won Best Boy Scorer, and Harry won the top under 14 player.
