Norfolk Superleague darts player Roger Berney of King’s Lynn United is unbeaten sitting top of the averages halfway through the season, being closely chased by Darren Brown from the Norwich darts team.
Berney has won all his eight matches so far and is owner of Splinters DIY, a hardware shop in South Lynn, who sponsor King’s Lynn United.
He said: “It’s an achievement to become top player as the competition is tough with a lot of players competing.”
The United team were away on Sunday to Walcott.
KL United Men won 4-3. Brian Goffart kicked things off hitting (100g/s) to go 2-0 up then his opponent Ricky Mileham pinched the third leg with (141g/s) on his way to sneaking the first game for Walcott.
Wins came for Pat Dix, Anton Liscsey, Roger Berney and MoM Craig Venman (180, 25.14 av). Callum Wilson hit (112g/s) while giving Walcott’s youth player a game. Highest average for Walcott: 29.47 John Sharp (101g/s).
KL United Ladies drew 2-2. Results from LoM Sandra Knevett were: 14.23av (116g/s) 2x100, while Beth Knevett got United’s other win.
l The King’s Lynn Superleague darts teams visited Wymondham on Sunday.
The games were high scoring with the teams managing over 75 ton-plusses and four 180’s. Despite the improved form and competitive close games, the men’s team were eventually beaten 6-1 and the ladies 4-0.
Only winner for Lynn was Mark Easter, with a 25.33 average, 12 ton plusses and a 180 in his defeat of Vic Hubbard.
Next match for King’s Lynn is a rescheduled home game against Hemsby on January 24.
