An under 13 cricket team representing Lynn and West Norfolk travelled to Cambridge recently to contest a 40 over per side match.
The squad are part of a National scheme to encourage cricket in State schools and receive funding from the MCC Foundation.
After trials, 18 were selected for a winter of indoor coaching with some outside practice as the temperatures warmed up.
Support has been provided by KES Academy and North Runcton Cricket Club.
Captain, Adam Ward, chose to bat first and after the loss of early wickets he steadied the innings with help from Jacob Lockhart and a resilient lower order. Adam was out for a superb 49 in the 39th over.
A total of 132 looked to be competitive and early wickets for Tom King and Charlie Steels put the Lynn team in command.
Cambridge fought back with a 36-run partnership before Jamie Wing bowled top scorer Miller. The return of quick bowler Liam Wall soon finished off the Cambridge innings for 100 runs.
An excellent win in a game played in a superb spirit.
Thanks to all the parents and supporters.
This Sunday sees the under 15 squad travel to Lincolnshire for their opening fixture.
