Wrestling fans turned out in force at Lynnsport on Saturday as local promotion, Falling Starr Wrestling presented their latest grappling bonanza entitled ‘Stairway to Hell’.

With barely a seat left in the house, the fans were treated to suplexes, full-nelsons and bodyslams on an evening that saw a host of colourful characters including a politician, a Royal Earl, a Kung Fu Blackbelt and Europe’s heaviest wrestler do battle.

But for many fans, the highlight of the night was the much-anticipated ladder match between two big rivals, wrestling bad guy ‘Dark Wolf’ Matt Walters and fan favourite, local hero Jimmy Starr.

This was the first ever ladder match ever to take place in Lynn and the fans were on the edge of their seats as the two competitors fought to retrieve a briefcase suspended high above the ring. The stakes were high in the match as inside the briefcase was the ownership contract that would place the winner in control of the company.

The match went back and forth with both competitors using the ladder to try and reach the briefcase, but also devising imaginative ways to inflict punishment on each other in order to gain the upper hand.

The turning point in the match came as the ‘Dark Wolf’ climbed to the top of the ladder before jumping off to deliver a massive elbow drop to Jimmy Starr. Luckily for the ecstatic fans, Jimmy had the wits about him to move out of the way sending Matt crashing to the canvas.

This devastating blow gave Jimmy the edge and after he hit his trademark move the Starr-KO, the result was academic as he climbed to the top of the ladder to claim the briefcase and win the match, delighting the Lynnsport crowd.

At the end of the show, there was opportunity to meet and great the stars.

Falling Starr Wrestling run events across East Anglia with their next show taking place in Spalding on September 19. They also host regular training sessions in Lynn for aspiring wrestlers.
