Lynn College of West Anglia finished their inaugural ABL (Academy Basketball League) season on a high with a hard fought 59-56 win over Long Rd sixth form.

Freshman backcourt pair Donatas Zakaras (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Gerardas Simaitis (17 points, 13 rebounds) led the way for CWA with Saul Holland also weighing in with 10 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. For Long Rd, Wales U17 international Morris bagged a 20-point haul.

Rebounding was key as CWA grabbed 46 per cent of available offensive rebounds.

Both teams did a better job of taking care of the ball with CWA (16) well under their average for the year.

Coach James Bamfield said: “I’m really pleased for the boys. They stuck with it this year and can take some momentum into the summer.

“If they put in the work they can compete in this league moving forward.

“We’ve had eight losses where we have been within six in the fourth period and with all our players a year older and more experienced, I’m optimistic for next year.”
