Lynn’s Rob Sayell is looking forward to racing his Formula Jedi at Cadwell this weekend after another successful two rounds at Snetterton.
Rob had carbon copy results to the previous Rockingham rounds with a fifth on the Saturday and eighth on the Sunday, which moved him up from seventh to sixth place in the championship.
On the Saturday Rob qualified 10th on the grid in a 19-car field. After getting away well from the start Rob narrowly avoided a collision when two cars touched in front of him on the first lap and then lost time as the race came under a safety car for several minutes, reducing the race time.
Once racing resumed Rob made steady progress to join the front pack, eventually finishing well clear of the rest of the field.
Day two saw Rob qualify two places higher, and just as at Rockingham, finished in eighth spot.
He said: “My rear tyres were beginning to lose grip in the second half of the race and with a very competitive field I was not able to gain any more places but was able to pull out a safe gap from ninth place and was happy to add some more points to the table.”
The meeting saw the Jedi track record broken several times by race leaders. There are eight races to go.
He added: “I am still on target for a top 10 championship finish and would now really like to retain sixth.
“There are however some very fast drivers below me so I do need to maintain reliability.
“I would also now like to improve my Sunday results, I have twice now qualified better than on Saturday but been unable to improve from there.
“I have struggled at Cadwell in the past largely due to having an underpowered car.
“It will be very interesting to see how the uprated engine performs and I really hope to consolidate the results so far.”
