Lynn Fury Basketball were delighted to use the 25th anniversary of Lynnsport celebrations this week to announce their latest signing.
At 20 years of age local lad Matty Roberts, who graduated the College of West Anglia Basketball Academy in 2015, put pen to paper on his first professional contract.
Roberts is an athletic 6ft 2 shooting guard with a smooth stroke from three-point range and an intensity on defence that endeared him to Fury coach James Bamfield.
Roberts said: “I’m so hyped to have been offered the opportunity to be part of what is happening at Fury. I’ve already played with a number of the squad at junior level or at the Academy and obviously know what Coach will be expecting as his standards are always of the highest level.
“One thing I know about our side is we will improve both as individuals and as a team under JB.”
Roberts took time at the event to speak to local residents and signed more than 100 autographs for young fans (pictured).
Bamfield added: “It’s so vital that we get as many youngsters playing basketball as possible for the future of the club and sport, but we also want to let people know about the professional set up and senior side and how we hope to represent King’s Lynn with pride.
“We hope to get the local community firmly behind the team and Fury Basketball Club.”
