The first Mini Red (Under 8) tennis tournament of the season took place in the Sports Hall at Lynn’s KES VII Academy last weekend.

The tournament was split into two divisions with the academy and county players playing in Division One and the development players in Division Two. Some of the children were playing their first competitive game and there was some great tennis over the day. All matches were umpired by the KES coaching team and staff with the children playing a round robin in each division, so there were plenty of games to be played.

Head coach, Ashley Swift said: “Whilst we knew the standard in the top division was going to be high, the development players all showed what they can do with more coaching and it was great to see them all playing with a smile on their face”.

The eventual winner of Division 1 was Tom Lloyd with George Dickson as runner-up, and in Division 2 Benjamin took the title with Enija coming second.

Special mention should also go to Sophie Lodge who won the sportsmanship award.

Some of the players competing and the coaches are pictured after the tournament.

KES would also like to thank kind sponsors APS (Anglian Partitions) Ltd for their continued support throughout the year.
