Ginetta GT4 Supercup leader Tom Oliphant is the man to beat, says championship rival Carl Breeze going into the latest round of races at Rockingham this weekend.
An almost perfect weekend for Oliphant at Knockhill saw him further extend the championship lead he secured as the latter half of the season got underway.
After a dominant opening half of the season for Breeze, Century Motorsport have responded with six wins over the past nine rounds.
HHC Motorsport racer Breeze held the championship lead as the Supercup went into the summer break but now trails Oliphant by 72 points in the overall standings
Breeze, who has endured a frustrating start to the second half of the season, said: “Tom is definitely the one to beat at the minute.
“He has hit a real purple patch and his car has improved by at least 20 per cent since Croft. While my team-mates and myself are having to put in 100 per cent driving effort, Tom is only having to put in 60 or 70 per cent because his car is that good.”
Breeze, who failed to get one weekend podium place for the first time this season at Knockhill, will have two practice sessions today, followed by qualifying tomorrow and two races on Sunday.
“I will have a good indication of how the weekend might go once we’ve completed the two practice sessions with a new set of tyres,” said Breeze.
“I’m fairly confident that I can get some podiums but I can’t keep allowing Tom to increase his championship lead.
“It’s important that I can start making some inroads into his lead or it is going to be almost impossive with only five rounds left.”
Breeze thanks Bluechip, HHC Motorsport, Holbon Photography, Mr Snippers, Forma Exercise and Fitness, Graham and Leigh and @GPlummerMedia for their continued support.
