King’s Lynn’s Bunting sets fastest ladies swim time

This weekend saw 10 King’s Lynn Triathlon Club members race at the eighth North Norfolk Triathlon at Wells in glorious September weather.

The event consisted of a 1500m swim in the harbour, 40km bike around the surrounding countryside, finishing with a 10km run out to Holkham and back along the beach at Wells, including a stretch of around 1km of soft sand which is a good test to even the strongest runners.

First home for the club was Dan Guppy in a time of 2:09:59, placing him seventh in his age group.

He was followed by Alistair Doig 2:23:11, Kyle Staples 2:28:00, third in his age group, Mike Hailey 2:29:51, Jamie Staples 2:35:27, Karl Patterson 2:39:04, Neil Gayton 2:41:39, his first race at this distance, Andy McShane 2:42:24 and Mark Gaskins 2:59:34.

Adrian Ebbs did the run leg for his team the Snettisham Divots in 45mins for a team time of 2:31:59.

Club secretary Kirsty Bunting completed her first middle distance triathlon at Eton Dorney. She completed the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run in time of 6:44:46, setting the fastest ladies swim time of the day.
