King’s Lynn Seniors set high standards in final

Have your say

Several members of King’s Lynn Roller Hockey Club travelled to Peterborough at the weekend to compete in the Eastern Counties Cup Finals.

Over the 2014/15 season each age group battles it out against other clubs in the East of England and the two finalist meet for cup finals day. The club had under 15, U20 and a Senior team that managed to get there.

Also on the day every club in the region could enter a U9s team, where they play in a round robin tournament. Lacey Vincent, Imogen Senter, and William Dickerson made their debut for the club.

It was a great experience for them, after losing their opening game to Peterborough 3-0,

Lynn came back against Ely 2 with four goals from Miles Hovell, to play for third or fourth position. Leena Futter was solid in defence and Keaton Vincent saved some fantasic goals but it was not enough to beat Ely 1, losing 1-0 and netting the U9s fourth place.

Lynn’s U15 team were against rivals Letchworth.

Lynn got off to a slow start but still led 3-1 at half-time. The second half saw them come out fighting and they won the final 10-1.

The U20s too came out slow against Soham and found themselves 3-1 down at half-time. The second half saw them battle back to 3-3, but with two minutes left on the clock Soham scored and Lynn were unable to claw one back, losing 3-4.

In the last game of the day premier league captain Josh Taylor led his team on the rink for the Senior final against Soham. The team started well with some excellent passing.

Two goals from Matthew Baker saw the team 2-0 up at half-time. The Seniors kept their high standard of play and another two goals from Jamie Griffin and Josh Taylor saw the Seniors win 4-0.

Thanks goes to Damien Roach of MKM Building Supplies Ltd, on the North Lynn Ind Estate for sponsoring the off rink polo shirts.

KLRH club have now finished for the season and resume back at Alive Lynnsport on Friday, September4 at 6pm.
