The Barnard Trophy Final of 2015 was hosted by Swaffham Golf Club and the course was in great condition.

King’s Lynn Golf Club and Weston Park had fought hard and long throughout the year to get to the final and their golf on the day reflected their efforts, as it was nip and tuck all day.

The lead exchanged hands on many occasions during the match and the result was in doubt right up until the last hole.

Game one and three went the way of Weston Park with game two going to Lynn, giving the local club the smallest of an overall lead at that point of just one hole.

The final game was all-square going to the 18th, Weston Park needing a win to extend the match and King’s Lynn needing a half to secure it and the trophy. Tensions were high, but Lynn took the honours on the last to give them a winning margin of two holes and securing the title of Barnard Trophy winners 2015 for the first time since 2010.

The vice-president of the county presented the trophy and winners’ medals to the King’s Lynn team and runners-up medals.

Team: Blair Rule (Barnard captain), Richard Brown, Maurice Lawlor, Ben Hornigold, Ken Dickerson, Mike Wilson, Paul Arnold, Rafiq Rattansi.

Other representatives in previous rounds: David Baker, Andy Garrick, Arthur Vanderloo.
