West Norfolk Rugby Club youngster George Lemon from Lynn is following in the same path as former West player Ali Price, who was in the starting line-up for Scotland in their recent 29-13 win over Wales in the Six Nations.
Price has been chosen to start at scrum half for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup Match between England and Scotland at Twickenham tomorrow (Saturday, March 11).
The springboard to Price’s professional career was playing for Scottish Exiles. Lemon follows that same path having played for the Exiles’ U16 team against Scotland in Newcastle on February 25 which ended in a closely fought 17-17 draw.
Other representative honours include fellow WNRUFC player Jack Trundley and Lemon being selected for the Independent School’s National U16 side.
The duo attend Wisbech Grammar School and their head of rugby Alex Laybourne said: “I am delighted for both Jack and George who have done exceptionally well. They have worked hard to take their opportunities for representative selection and should be congratulated on their achievements, of which I am sure there will be plenty more both on the rugby field and off it.”
Another Six Nations player with local connections is Lynn-born George North who stars for Wales.
