Docking YMCA Badminton held their final session of the season, with a variety of fun games. The year 6 pupils even had the chance to play competitive games against the coach, Janis Baker!

Over the 2014/15 season 18 children have been learning how to serve, and various shots including the clear, net play and the smash.

A tournament was run earlier in the year with Alfie Cator as the winner and Toby Birkhead runner-up.

Some of the children entered the annual West Norfolk Junior Badminton Championships at Alive Lynnsport in April, where Megan Skeen took the U10 girls singles and doubles titles.

It’s been the most successful year to date for the club which was helped five years ago by a grant from the West Norfolk Sports Council to get it started and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Baker gives a trophy every half term to the most improved player, and the final term it went to 11-year-old Molly Skeen. The top trophy, for Player of the Season, is awarded to the child who shows the best attitude towards learning, most improvement over the year, good behaviour and sportsmanship and was presented to 11-year-old Kit Hart.

The club will resume in September, for more details go to
