Local drivers take centre stage at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena this weekend with a packed programme of Stock Car and Banger racing planned for Sunday afternoon (1pm).
National Banger action is provided by the 1500cc category, with support coming from Lady Bangers and Junior Bangers. Completing the bill are 1300cc Stock Cars.
It is the third qualifying round for the 1500cc Bangers National Championship, won in each of the last three years by Swaffham’s Terry Garrod.
He once again leads the way in 2016 and will be looking to add to his score this weekend, with brothers Ashley, Jack and Ricky joining him in action.
Further local interest is provided by top entertainer Ricky Twell and his fellow Lynn drivers Jake Burgess, Simon Eglen, Jason Farthing and Karl Thorpe.
Hometown driver Wesley Freestone is seeking his first win of 2016 in 1300cc Stock Cars. Freestone will be aiming to recapture the form that has secured twin points titles and a brace of World of Shale successes in the past two years.
Wesley’s younger brothers Austen and Ryley have endured torrid campaigns so far this year and will be hoping for a change of fortune on Sunday.
The Lady Bangers contest one of their biggest titles, the British Championship. Defended by Ely’s Danielle Ellis, Hunstanton’s Kerry Thurgill and Lynn locals Kay Atter and Kate Calver will be hoping to upset the odds and spring a surprise.
The Junior Banger entry includes local youngsters Harry Cobb and Marshall Waldron who both had meetings to remember last time out. They finished first and second in one of the heats and produced strong performances in the other races too.
The next challenge is to reproduce that form from further back on the grid, having been upgraded to the ‘A’ and ‘B’ grades respectively.
