Two teams from King’s Lynn Roller Hockey Club played in an away tournament in Cambridge over the weekend.
The U15 Black team is made up of all Year 10 pupils from around the area, and the U15’s Red are a development team who are much younger and are gaining much Eastern Counties League experience.
The Blacks got off to a flying start against Cottenham, winning 9-0. The second game against a stronger Ely side saw some great passing between Josh Horn, Millie Twidale and Matthew Baker in a 5-0 win.
The last game was an impressive 14-0 win against Walpole taking Blacks to the top of the Eastern Counties League with a 100 per cent record and one tournament to go.
The Reds lost 4-1 against a strong Ely, with Finley Griffin and Joe Hawes battling hard up front. Next up was the most exciting game of the day, with the Reds 4-2 down against Walpole at half-time.
Jason Gay was solid in defence and goalkeeper Josh Roberts had an excellent second half. With a second to go Ethan Shread netted giving the Reds a 7-6 win.
Arthur Knight stopped some great Cottenham attacking play but the team lost 5-1.
