The Mid-Norfolk Sunday Cricket League is delighted to announce that Hunts County Bats is the new sponsor for their midweek competition.

After a sponsorship that has run from 1983, Bernard Matthews has withdrawn their involvement from the competition.

The competition is the largest entry for any mid-week cricket competition in Norfolk. It is county-wide and will culminate in the finals on Sunday, September 11 at Sprowston CC, where there will be a £300 custom-made bat to be won by the Men of the Match.

The format is the familiar Super 8 (16 x eight ball overs), the same as it was for the Bernard Matthews Cup. There will be tight time constraints in order to ensure the match is completed in the shortest possible time before night-fall.

League chairman, Colin King, revealed: “We are bringing together, for the first time in nearly 50 years, the Norfolk Challenge Cup (Senior Cup) and the Norfolk Junior Cup. It’s reviving a partnership that dates back to 1891.”

He added: “As before, teams eliminated in the first round of the Senior Cup will automatically be entered into the Norfolk Junior Cup.”

Teams wishing to enter this cup should email: samantharix5186@yahoo.co.uk or call 07453 589 510.
