Nearly new King’s Lynn side gel well in tournament debut

Have your say

The King’s Lynn Roller Hockey Club U11s have a nearly brand new team this year to kick off the season at their first tournament in Soham on Saturday.

Their first game against Letchworth was fabulous.

The team played together like they’d been playing together for years even though they had two brand new teammates. Lacey Vincent made her debut in the U11s league and got stuck right in. The game ended 0-0, but most of the game time was played at the Letchworth end of the rink.

Ely B were their next opponents. It was a friendly and Lynn won 0-7. Miles Hovell scored two goals leading the team as captain. Ryan Hulcoop joined KLRHC U11s this season and he scored four goals in this game, showing his experience and determination. Alfie Poppy scored one goal against Ely B.

By the time of the third game of the day, the team was getting tired. They didn’t have any substitutes for the tournament, so the whole team played continuously in every game.

The tiredness showed against Ely A and Lynn lost 3-5. Leena Futter was superb in goal saving multiple shots. Hovell worked pulling his team together and scored one goal. Hulcoop carried on scoring with two more goals.

At the end of the day Lynn played against Herne Bay which is a tough team to face even when ready for it. KLRHC pulled in their literally last resources and gave a tough fight, although they lost 8-0.

Poppy, Hovell and Hulcoop kept doing multiple brilliant shots at Herne Bay’s goal, but unfortunately their goalie proved very good. Futter also worked hard in goal. A special thanks to Vincent for sticking with the games the whole long day.

The team thank MKM for their continued support.
