A new age group, U20’s, has been set up in the Eastern Counties Roller Hockey League and King’s Lynn RHC sent a team to Letchworth to play two exciting matches.
The first one was against the hosts, and 14 year-old Josh Roberts made his first appearance in goal having to step up several age groups.
Lynn conceded an early goal due to a lapse in defence, but soon regrouped taking a 2-1 lead at half-time with goals from captain Matt Baker. In the second half Lynn played attacking hockey with a pass from Josh Horn for Owen Norris to slot home, plus three more goals from Baker saw Lynn take their first win of the day 6-4.
With two players unable to play, fitness was key with only a 15-minute break. Lynn’s next game was against Cottenham, and were taken by surprise in the first seven minutes with two quick goals from the opposition.
Lynn took a time out with coach Andy Horn.
They regrouped and clawed a goal back with Baker on target. The next three minutes saw Tom Barry get two important goals to put Lynn in the lead at half-time 3-2 .
The second half saw a well organised team scoring from Baker and Norris.
Cottenham scored once more but it was not enough, as Lynn won 6-3.
